January 2007 Macdowall to the Little Bear Lodge Day One 07-06

  A nice casual ride to Little Bear Resort......."heck we'll be there in 5 or 6 hours!"    Oh yea, ......it's all good........fine riding for those who have rode a couple times in the last 20 years!.....Maybe not such a fine ride if you hadn't rode in 20 years!

 

1) We are ready to unload and head thru Nisbet Forest.

2) Having stopped at Holbein we're head' in north to Emma Lake.

3) Here we meet the groomed trail that turns east towards one of my favorites "the Bell Lake" portion of Route 66.

4) We get some Premium fuel at Sunset Bay Resort.

 


 5) We are somewhere NE of Candle Lake on the Route 66 groomed trail, such civility in this groomed trail riding!
  

6)Further north it started to blizzard out in the open as we got closer to Caribou Creek.

7) Get out of the way! It's time to check in and sit down for a meal! It's been 12 hours and some 220 miles[355KM]  in the saddle, no record, but a good hike

8)  And would you know it, for those of us who where still awake it was time for a pop and soak!
